My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. Having always stayed on the strip, at first we were taken aback by the size of the bathroom. Later we found out that we were provided a room in the oldest part of the hotel. Very soon we changed our minds and decided we loved the room because it turned out to be a few steps from the Casino. The whole hotel is very clean. Where we stayed, the furnishings was old but fabulously restored or kept up. It was like stepping back in time. The food at the restaurants was excelent and bargained priced. The entire staff was extremely cheerful, friendly and very helpful. We were surprised when a number of the staff remembered our name. We will never stay on the strip again the whole Fremont experiance just blew us away.

Just finished a week-long stay here. Overall comfortable and a good value. There were a few details that were bothersome, such as no coffee makers in the room and the high-speed internet was $*/day.Given that there are few wireless hot-spots in the vicinity, it became a real problem and I had to end up paying for it every day which does add up.

i loved staying in the cabannas they are brand new n chic i loved the cleaness of the room n how safe it was i also liked how it was walking distance from the freemont experience n all the bars. i would recomend it to everyone oh n the price was a good price n cheap.

What in the world are you negative people talking about -- cheap, clean and a great location. If you want a 5 star hotel pay for it. I get free comp rooms every 2-3 months (3 days free) And you people about smoke -- it's a casino what do you expect. This is by far the best hotel/casino for the money in downtown Las Vegas. Yes the Nugget is nicer but 3-4 times the price. Personally I hope you complainers never come back. Next time you book a room ASK about the rooms and elevators (for grandma) and when you reserve the room you'll know what your getting instead of complaining after the fact. Thank you El Cortez for the great hotel, service and comps. You'll see by the reviews 30-1 positive reviews -- some people have nothing better to do than complain. Please don't let these few negative people keep you from booking a stay there.
